As a Paralegal at Honeywell, you will facilitate the legal department with one-half time on commercial matters and one-half time on intellectual property matters (“IP”) for particular business lines. The tasks include managing contracts using contract management software, legal research, editing and reviewing legal documents, managing intellectual property (“IP”) records and filings using IP management software, and managing case files. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the legal team and contribute to the overall success of the organization. You will report directly to our Assistant General Counsel for North America and you’ll work out of our Rosemont, IL location on a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the legal department by providing valuable assistance in various legal matters, including contract management, litigation support, and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct legal research and analysis to facilitate case preparation
-
Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, such as contracts and agreements
-
Maintain a subset of UOP’s patent docket using Honeywell’s software-based IP management systems,
-
Learn Honeywell’s IP management system and assist with running portfolio reports and extracting data,
-
Interface with outside counsel and agents for patent applications on routine matters,
-
Assist with monitoring patent budget and approving invoices from outside counsel and foreign and domestic agents (within the limits of authorization to do so).

Maintain and organize case files, documents, and correspondence

Assist in managing litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel

Support regulatory compliance efforts by monitoring and researching applicable laws and regulations

Work with cross-functional teams to provide legal guidance and support on various projects

Maintain and educate stakeholders on LEAP Resource Center, Honeywell’s internal document management system, monthly audit of LEAP to identify stalled records, manage profiles issues in LEAP.

Help with Sarbanes-Oxley audits and internal audits to the extent Controllership doesn't have command or requests inputs from UOP Legal.

Track working capital, past dues, monetization, update opportunities spreadsheet, and business opportunities tracking spreadsheet.

Promote compliance with all Honeywell policies, including those relating to the approval of Sales Agents, Competition Law, Export Control and the Schedule of Executive Approvals, and update Honeywell intranet sites with standard documents.
Key skills and qualifications

Experience dealing with contract management systems, preferably with LEAP.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft software systems especially including Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.

Multiple years prior experience of paralegal or legal operations work.

Proficiency in English. Proficiency in other languages including Spanish and Portuguese would be beneficial.

Strong communication and interactive skills, proactive and enthusiastic mindset.

Excellent social skills with the ability to prioritize, work independently, take initiative when required within a high volume /fast-paced, highly joint, multi-national, team environment.
