A Project Engineer will help to manage the planning and processes of a project to ensure it is completed efficiently, on-time and within budget. Duties and responsibilities vary per project.
Project Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management
- Drafts subcontractor agreements for review
- Attends site and owner meetings
- Oversee subcontractors and quality control and safety requirements
- Prepare and track RFI’s, Monthly Pay Requests and Purchase Orders
- Document Control: internals reports, tracking reports for equipment, time and materials, cost coding
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards
- Helps to plans work schedule, and keep schedule updates in system
- Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates and take-off’s
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
- Controls project costs by submitting expenditures and administering subcontractor contracts for review and approval
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline Preferred
- 2+ years of project experience working in heavy civil construction industry Required
- EIT Certification a plus
- Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software such as Primavera (P6) AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Viewpoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external resources
- Ability to effectively prioritize duties based upon project schedules and project needs
- Ability to self-manage with little or no supervision
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
