The Manager, Technical Accounting – Goodwill & Intangibles is responsible for the accounting for the $80 billion of goodwill and intangible assets at Kraft Heinz, as well as the completion of the annual impairment testing. This role will work closely with the business in developing and maintaining the cash flow forecasts and assumptions to build the fair value models for our reporting unit and brand valuations. This role will also work closely with our third-party valuation firm to develop and model the required assumptions. In addition to the annual impairment test, this role will be responsible for managing the related accounting for goodwill and intangibles related to acquisitions and divestitures. In addition to responsibilities related to goodwill and intangible assets, this role will assist in other technical accounting matters that will vary based on the Company’s priorities. The ideal candidate for this role must be team focused, highly analytical and detail oriented, as well as being proactive in dealing with multiple functions within the business. Valuation and / or experience with Long Range Planning software is a bonus. This role will provide a high degree of visibility and must be a productive business partner.
Key Components of the role
Primarily responsible for the annual impairment test of goodwill and intangibles;
Conduct any necessary interim or transitional impairment test as necessary;
Work closely with the third-party valuation firm to coordinate all necessary deliverables and communicate management’s position on certain valuation assumptions;
Research technical valuation related issues and the corresponding accounting conclusions to ensure compliance with Company policy;
Partner with various teams within finance and the business to understand the support for forecasted cash flows and ensure timely preparation of impairment testing;
Prepare accounting position whitepapers and review with the Company’s management and external auditors;
Support all internal, external and SOX related audits;
Prepare required disclosures to support SEC filings where necessary;
Assist with projects relating to the accounting and reporting for M&A activity, as required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations surrounding Goodwill & Other Intangible Assets;
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm or large valuation firm with emphasis in SEC engagements or combined public accounting and industry experience performing valuation related activities and/or accounting for goodwill and intangibles;
Demonstrated experience performing valuation analysis;
Ability to effectively lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization with shifting schedules and priorities;
Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills;
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills;
Ability to work efficiently and achieve high quality results;
Excellent analytical, teamwork, customer service and leadership skills.
