We're looking for an on-site Senior Manager for Health Information Management (HIM) and Privacy Officer to join our team at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Indiana
Job Summary:
Improving work procedures, communications, and relationships between the HIM team and other team members throughout Putnam County Hospital as well as medical staff including other physician practices. Supervises the HIM team and all functions of Health Information Management, including efficient and effective processing of the medical record. Develops, defines, maintains, and implements policies and processes that enable consistent and effective privacy practices to minimize risk and ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement efforts throughout the PCH teams and collaborating facilities. Ensures the HIM team members have all necessary supplies and equipment needed to complete required tasks. Serve as Privacy Officer.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

Guiding the HIM Team as a support group for Medical Staff, Administration, Business Office, and other team members/groups throughout PCH

Developing effective procedures to meet the licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and the goals of PCH

Performing HIM procedures when necessary to reduce or prevent backlogs

Updating policies and procedure manuals as changes are made as well as job descriptions and evaluations

Designing and revising health information forms; taking to proper committee for approval

Participating in prepayment and retrospective audits for all payers

Preparing annual budget; reviewing monthly budget reports

Collaborating with Administration and other departments to develop the most effective interdepartmental procedures

Serves as an information resource to hospital and clinics for privacy and HIM related issues

Communicating information to the Finance department to facilitate prompt accurate reimbursement for the hospital

Collaborates with contracted partners to perform accurate and timely coding.

Collaborates with the Security Officer to investigate and report inappropriate access and disclosure of PHI

Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business associates and agreements, to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed

Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates

Be a graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) approved program for Health Information Technician or Health Information Administrator

RHIA or RHIT certification

Possess knowledge of laws and regulations for Health Information by licensing and accrediting bodies as well as government

Ability to work under pressure and conditions of frequent interruption

Ability to use initiative and judgement to collect and analyze data, evaluate information, and recognize the need for improvement and effecting change. Tack and diplomacy required.
