The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to work in Arlington, VA with our group of civil/transportation engineering professionals in a team setting. In this position, the candidate will assistsin geotechnical services during design and construction. Design related services include but are not limited to field exploration program setup, in-situ data collection, laboratory testing, review of field and laboratory data, engineering analyses, and engineering report generation. Construction related services include but are not limited to providing design services during construction, field observations/inspections during construction, and producing/reviewing daily field reports of construction elements.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
+ Assist with preparation for field exploration program with boring location plan, utility clearance, permitting preparation and outlining the planned laboratory testing program

+ Perform daily safety tailgate meetings

+ Record Geotechnical subsurface exploration data

+ Perform field testing

+ Assign, log and report lab test results for collected samples during subsurface exploration

+ Assist project manager in performing geotechnical analyses

+ Report generation of Technical Memoranda and Geotechnical Engineering Reports

+ Assist in performing design services during construction

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or equal from an accredited university or college where the candidate is at least of junior level status

+ 0-2 years of related experience

+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential; able to prioritize multiple task

+ Works well in team environment as well as independently

Preferred Qualifications

+ Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

+ Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present and discuss technical content with clients, regulatory agency staff, and the public.

+ Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail oriented work, and demonstrate effective time management skills.
