Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under direction of the Human Resource Specialist, performs specialized clerical duties associated with payroll and personnel administrative functions of the Chicago Veterans' Home, prepares checks for completion, and provides information for various personnel/payroll transactions and reports as required. As authorized, prepares facility payroll making appropriate entries and changes for reflecting accurate time worked, salary, status, deductions, and other payroll-related changes. Reviews various personnel transactions to ensure correctness and completion and forwards to appropriate staff for processing.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of related clerical experience such as would be acquired at the Office Assistant level, or satisfactory completion of an approved Training program. Prefers a working knowledge of portions of the Rules, Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contractual Agreements, Instructional Manuals, Policies and Procedures of the State of Illinois and the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Prefers one year of personnel administration experience with knowledge of terminology used in personnel administration. Requires the ability to read, write, speak with clarity, and comprehend the English Language. Requires working knowledge of basic mathematical and clerical skills including typing, filing and using computer keyboard and standard office machines. Requires physical ability to bend squat, sit, stretch, lift up to 30 pounds, use hands repetitively in typing and operating a calculator and computer. Requires ability to keyboard 30 wpm.

Anticipated Monthly Salary Range: $3,448.00 - $3,867.00
Current BU Range: $3,092.00 - $4,213.00
Current BU Employees: CBA Language applies
