Each applicant applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a State Tax Clearance Certificate by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website at http://www.ksrevenue.org/taxclearance.html. A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. All applicants, including current State employees, are responsible for submitting a valid and up to date certificate with all other application materials to the hiring agency. The position you are viewing is in the Division of Engineering and Design, Topeka KS. This is a full-time, unclassified position with benefits. Pay up to $80,000 a year, depending on experience and/or the skill level of the applicant
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs the contracting procedures for the hiring of consultant engineering firms on behalf of KDOT. Provides coordination of the advertisement for consultants, evaluation of the proposals, writing of the contracts, approval of changes to the contracts, and annual performance reviews of consultants. Reviews, approves, and processes payment requests to consultant firms for work performed under the approved KDOT contracts. Verifies reported progress with project managers. Serves as the Secretary to the Consultant Qualification Committee and the Consultant Selection Committee. This requires daily contact with consultant engineering firms as to the type of work they can perform for KDOT. Represents the Division of Engineering and Design on various committees such as Construction Project Management System, Contract Management System, Financial Information Management System, American Council Engineering Consultants Kansas division and KDOT.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
NOTE: If you lack any of the required experience and want us to consider relevant education, you must provide copies of your transcripts/certificates before the closing date.
• Professional Engineering License recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Profession and six years of experience in engineering.
• Course work and experience or training in computer programming and computer systems development is highly recommended. Thorough knowledge of the engineering principles and practices applied in the planning, location and design of civil engineering projects in the field of transportation, including training on computers, computer software and report writing
