Full-Time Position for Experienced Graphic Artist in Wilmington, NC

A unique opportunity for skilled graphic artists to put their work in front of millions of consumers!

Please DO NOT apply if you are not in the Wilmington, NC area.

We are a creative, analytical, fast-paced, and growing online retailer catering to a diverse group of consumers nationwide. Our customers are seeking to express themselves, and they find value in our large catalog of unique and sometimes hard-to-find designs and products. We sell on the world’s largest marketplaces, including Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. Our company is located in Wilmington, NC and we currently employ over 25 team members. We currently have one full-time graphic artist and we will be hiring 2 more graphic artists in the coming month.

Please read the following job description carefully:

If you have at least 1 year of experience as a graphic artist, and live in or near Wilmington, we want to see your resume and portfolio.

This is a full-time, office-based, salaried position. This is NOT a remote-in or work-from-home position. You will not be paid by the design or hourly. If you do not live in or near Wilmington, or are not willing to work in an office, this position is not for you.

Our ideal candidate will have mastered Corel DRAW, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and hold a competent grasp of Microsoft Office. They will have strong creative, illustrative, graphic and typography skills.

Other skills our ideal candidate will possess are:

  • Ability to create high quality and creative artwork based on instruction from the management team
  • Ability to produce multiple quality designs in a day without getting bogged down on little details of a specific design
  • Willingness to meet deadlines by any means necessary
  • Accept responsibility for wins AND losses; possess a “no excuses” attitude
  • Ability to deliver artwork in vector format using Corel Draw (you can design in whichever program you prefer)
  • Ability to create and use macros in Photoshop, et al.
  • A strong attention to detail—please tell us your favorite animal and why in no more than 2 sentences if you respond to this advertisement
  • A willingness to accept AND learn from constructive criticism
  • A desire to learn from your mistakes to avoid repeating them in the future
  • Ability to independently problem solve (i.e. use Google)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask efficiently
  • Take ownership of their job
  • Work well with others in a team setting
  • Ability to arrive to work on time, and work at least 5 full days each week from our offices in Wilmington
  • Maintain a positive attitude

Do you believe you have these skills and exhibit those characteristics? Read on.

Our goal is to create and offer designs to our customers that not only look great in-person, but also merchandise well on a computer screen or mobile phone—as an online retailer, computer and mobile screens are our “storefront”.

The most intricate and beautiful designs do not always equate to the most profitable designs. Our graphic artists need to strike a balance between delivering artwork that is both interesting AND identifiable—interesting enough to catch the eye of a customer who is browsing a sea of designs on their Amazon app, and identifiable enough that they can clearly make out what the design says from a small thumbnail photo.

Our company has created a very specific set of systems to generate and create design ideas. Our graphic artists will meet with our Creative Director one-on-one to discuss assignments before beginning them. The ability to follow directions, and communicate ideas and questions clearly is of paramount importance.

Do you think your artwork is eye-catching and merchandises well? If so, and you meet all the criteria above, let’s talk shop.

This is a salaried position. Compensation will start based upon market, skills, education, and attitude—with the potential to adjust quickly based on your ability to add value, adapt to our systems, and produce profitable results. You will not be compensated by the design or hour. Having read the above, if you believe you would be a good fit for our company, please send us an email with the following:

  • A copy of your professional resume
  • A portfolio of your 100% original design work (a link to a digital portfolio is acceptable)
  • 5 different and ORIGINAL design ideas for the phrase “I Run Like a Girl … Try to Keep Up” in vector format
  • Write a brief description of why you are a great fit for this position
