**Position Overview**

The **Accessibility Lead** acts as the subject matter expert to support the various program teams understanding of accessibility requirements in order to plan and develop compliant content. The Accessibility Lead would provide guidance during the planning phase to ensure the team’s understanding around accessibility requirements is clear and that they properly plan for compliance activities per component.

In addition, he/she further supports the Program Team by conducting a compliance analysis of any existing content (if reuse is in play), providing specific reports/instructions on how to remediate and by providing accessibility training to both internal and external resources assigned to the project. The Accessibility Lead working with CDUX and various Product Development Leads helps in reviewing prototypes, samples, style guides, templates, etc to ensure up front pre-production activities are all executing to accessibility requirements before full production teams being execution.

During Production the Lead will review each component type to ensure each type is compliant - providing guidance on where there are gaps and how they are to be resolved. The Accessibility Lead will coordinate with the Director, Content Standards and the Accessibility Project Manager on status and next steps. The Accessibility Lead will work with the Director, Content Standards and the Accessibility Project Manager in conjunction with Program Leads and 3rd Party accessibility vendor and/or auditor as applicable to the project. The Accessibility Lead to help identify improvement opportunities and work with the various cross-functional leads in order to update workflows, artifacts, system & tools, and communications accordingly.


Prepare the program specific Accessibility Profile and specific support materials such as accessibility 'style guides' , guidelines, checklists, etc to enable efficient planning and production of compliant content in conjunction with the Director, Content Standards and the Program Team.

Provide Accessibility guidance to program teams during program planning, set up, and WIP. Help resolve concerns/issues.

Provide accessibility training - per program team - internal and external resources. Ensuring all resources understand accessibility requirements, milestones, roles, etc.

Conduct accessibility reviews on program components and assets - provide clear guidance on how to resolve any issues identified.

Help maintain foundational accessibility guidelines,checklists, training materials, etc.

Provide status information to Director, Content Standards and Accessibility PM. Help communicate and report out specifics as requested.


**Formal education or equivalent experience**

IAAP Certification preferred. Equivalent work experience valued.


5-7 years of electronic book production experience and/or multimedia development.

Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA and 2.1 AA requirements.

Experience completing UDL questionnaires.

Ability to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time, handle multiple priorities simultaneously and operate in a demanding work environment is important.

Experience in planning and creation of comprehensive accessibility training materials - including the organization and management of these materials.

Experience conducting accessibility training sessions with cross-functional teams/domains and needed follow-ups.

Strong knowledge of publishing content development life cycle and workflow (print and digital).

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in complex organization structures; with technology and editorial organizations; and an ability to communicate to both non-technical and technical stakeholders.

Experience with content/data transformation.

Understanding of School publishing applications (e.g. Adobe CS, Flash), systems and databases.

Expertise with the implementation and limitations of various e-learning standards.

Expertise in working with various LMS and content delivery technologies.

Ability to learn new technology and tools.

Experience analyzing creative, functional, technical and testing documentation.

Ability to work through problems and negotiate pragmatic workable solutions.

Demonstrated leadership experience within a market-focused, matrix organization.

High level of initiative with the ability to work independently, along with demonstrated dependability.

Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership, strength in interpersonal awareness, impact and influence, and cross-group collaboration.

Advanced analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
