The Affiliated Sante Group seeks a FULL TIME Phone Counselor for the Eastern Shore Operations Center in Cambridge, MD. This is a full time, salaried, 40 hours per week position. This is a great entry - level opportunity if you have a bachelor's degree in social work/ psychology. Apply today!

Duties:
Respond to calls received on the 24/7 Eastern Shore Operations Center (ESOC) Crisis Response and Resource Helpline
Perform rapid assessment and triage of callers’ behavioral, substance use, and co-occurring disorder crises, including suicide risk assessments
Perform telephone triage and assessment of crisis calls, linkage to resources, dispatch of mobile crisis teams, police and other providers
Provide documentation in Electronic Case Records
Provide goal-directed counseling and crisis planning, and follow up with clients through the CRS process until discharge
Conduct lethality assessments of clients and dispatch appropriate resources (police, EMT, MCT) when necessary
Complete environmental risk and safety assessments and relay all information to MCT/patrol when necessary
Effectively deescalate clients in crisis, when necessary Work with families and involved persons to deescalate current crisis
Develop rapport with callers in crisis and maintain objectivity and calm demeanor
Develop appropriate and realistic crisis plans for clients when necessary
Possess knowledge and familiarity of community resources, including behavioral health, substance use, and non-mental health Participate in the ongoing development of the program database
Effectively communicate client needs while making internal agency referrals
Provide guidance and oversight of interns when working same shift
Participate in ongoing individual and group supervision
Participate in and/or complete all required training by due dates
Abide by all federal, state and local confidentiality and reporting regulation

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field
Five years of experience working with vulnerable populations in crisis work may be substituted for academic training
Expertise with special populations can be substituted for academic credentialing and/or years of crisis work
Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
Must be able to be trained on Electronic Consumer Record software.
Must be able to work individually as well as within a team and multi-task
Must be able to work with “high-risk” consumers who have mental illnesses as well as developmental and physical disabilities
Posses a strong desire to provide excellent customer service and to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable
Must have high ethical and professional standards of conduct
