Halifax Health is seeking a Tumor Registry Coordinator for Halifax Health/Parrish Medical Center Oncology Services.
The Tumor Registry Coordinator is responsible for leadership and direction for the Halifax Health Medical Center and affiliates Tumor Registry and, in doing so, oversees and/or participates in the cancer program activities on which the cancer program accreditation is based by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), Centers of Excellence and various accrediting bodies (QOPI, ACRO). Responsible for coordinating the care and services, advocate for the patient, and facilitates timely access to quality health and psychosocial care through the cancer care continuum.
B.A. Medical Informatics preferred
Certified Tumor Registrar, as approved in the State of Florida and North American Association of Central Registries (NAACCR).
Minimum of 2-5 years in an automated Tumor Registry with 2-3 years at the supervisory/management level.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, and various Electronic Medical Record and Abstracting Software for reporting purposes
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Organize and maintain an efficient Tumor Registry by assuring accurate abstracting, data entry and data submission of all new cases of cancer diagnosed and/or treated at Halifax Health Medical Center and designated affiliates, and coordinates the completion of annual life-time follow-up on all patients
Supervises Registry Personnel including hiring, evaluating and scheduling, in conjunction with Operations Manager
Provides leadership for the development of policies and procedures and coordinates annual review of same.
Provides leadership for the development of the Tumor Registry team’s knowledge and skill
Establishes Tumor Registry goals and coordinates achievements of these
Works with Cancer Committee Chair in planning and conducting bi-monthly Cancer Committee meetings and carrying out the ongoing work of the committee
Assists in development of Cancer Committee meeting Agenda utilizing ACOS Standards and requirements
Assists in documentation and submission of required information for Centers of Excellence, QOPI, ACRO, and others as required
Communicates plans and assists in preparation of Cancer Committee Reports
Presents regular reports on the activities of the Tumor Registry
Prepares and distributes Cancer Committee meeting minutes
Coordinates and prepares cancer program Annual Report, with statistical data summaries, coordination with Cancer Committee Chair and Oncology Operations Manager
Coordinates sharing of follow-up data on clinical research patients
Coordinates weekly Tumor Conferences with assistance of Patient Navigators.
Participates with other Coordinators and Managers in leadership of the Center for Oncology programs
Coordinate with the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) state reporting system for timely abstract and report submission
