The right candidate will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and developers to gather relevant information while displaying an understanding of system requirements to support documentation development supporting AWS Cloud architectures to include UI (front end), application and database (back end) layers. You will also create user interface texts as well as ensure continuity of style and content. The candidate will also ensure technical documentation is correct to support ATO certification and accreditation processes as well as author roles and responsibilities documentation, interface description documents, systems description documents and system security documentation in support of AWS Cloud architectures. Display knowledge of data and assist with process improvement to help design, build, and modernize an existing high-profile legacy system in a cloud DevOps environment utilizing available C2S services. As a data engineer/ technical writer you will be responsible for authoring documentation supporting transformative activities for an existing framework that ultimately will take unstructured data and transform into structured, searchable, and tagged data that will be more useful to the Program. The candidate will author documentation supporting utilizing C2S services in combination with 3rd parties - Spark, EMR, DynamoDB, RedShift, Kinesis, Glue, Snowflake, etc. You will also work with data analysts to develop daily and more in-depth publications used by senior policymakers in the IC.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Collaborate with program managers, PMO members, Chief engineers, Cloud and Systems Architects, Cloud and Systems Engineers, Cloud and Systems Administrators, Cybersecurity Engineers and Software Engineers to develop content that meets organization standards and educates stakeholders on the full portfolio of C2S services and architectures.
Creation and support of documentation of real-time data pipelines built on AWS technologies including Glue, Redshift/Spectrum, Kinesis, EMR and Athena
Interface with other technology teams to author documentation for extraction, transforming, and loading data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
Continual research of the latest big data and visualization technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
Collaborate with other tech teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich datasets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering, and machine learning.
Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
Responsible for independently editing, designing, and managing the contents of the finished multimedia intelligence publications and posting to appropriate websites.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required
Demonstrated strength in authoring documentation supporting data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
Experience authoring documentation for utilization OD big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark etc.)
Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos etc.)
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills; excellent proofreading skills [NOTE: writing samples might be required as part of the hiring process.]
Ability to translate and communicate complex analysis using accurate, concise, and effective writing.
Experience working with content management systems.
Minimum of 2 years of experience using Desktop Publishing, basic graphics techniques, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of best practices with writing engaging content.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience authoring documentation supporting AWS data technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR)
Experience authoring documentation for the building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of data sets
Experience authoring documentation for working with distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
Web editor/technical writer with demonstrated experience editing IC analytical products. Essentially, someone that understands Intelligence Analysis tradecraft so that they can appropriately edit those products.
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Communications, English, writing, marketing, communications, or journalism; 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s with 4 years of experience; an Associates with 8 years of experience.
3-5 years’ experience in marketing, publishing, communications or related fields.
