Ordnance Packager


This is a Santa Cruz Facility position:
IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

Prepare and package for shipment or storage and unpackage, ordnance materials and devices following detailed instructions and established procedures.

Following detailed job instructions and specifications, perform a variety of packaging and unpackaging operations, pertaining to ordnance materials and devices, of which the following are typical: Apply prescribed preservative, packing and wrapping materials and place items in boxes, crates and containers in accordance with packaging specifications, prepare and affix labels, decals, tags and similar documentation; mark codes and numbers on cord crates, and shipping containers, record data pertaining to weight and volume mode and adjust crates, boxes and shipping containers manually and with assistance of powered handling equipment as required; cut explosive cord to proper lengths as required. Contact inspection to obtain required services.

Basic Qualifications:
Ability to operate electric carts, pallet movers, and related handling equipment where no special rigging is required; to read and understand work authorizing documents, procedures and instructions; to use basic arithmetic. Must be capable of safely moving shipping containers as required. Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Desired Skills:
Experience with Ordnance handling.
