The Candidate shall possess the following:
Master of Divinity or equivalent educational qualifications
Must have completed at least 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
Have, experience as a Chaplain in a medical/clinical setting
Experience in Hospice and Palliative Care, and be able to provide bereavement care
Must possess ecclesiastical endorsement, dated within the past 12 months, from the designated national endorsing official of his/her faith group or denomination.
At least two years of professional experience, after completion of the M. Div. or equivalent.
Proficient in written and spoken English.
Must meet all qualification requirements for chaplain grade GS-12.
Must be certified as an ACPE Associate Educator or ACPE Educator.
Provide services for patients of all faiths commonly practiced in Hawaii-Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, and Islam-weekly, and as requested.
Provide Chaplain Services to the Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Extended Care Service (GREC), Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), and Mental Health (MH).
Provide spiritual care for patients and families, especially visitation with those awaiting surgery, dying patients, bereaved families, families of patients in crises, persons with ethical concerns, and persons who are depressed, lonely, or struggling with the health center environment.
Perform spiritual assessments on all incoming veterans within 48 hours of their admittance.
Provide spiritual care for those in Hospice care.
Must communicate effectively with persons of diverse race, culture, religious belief, nationality, and age.
Emergency services for traumas, deaths, or emotional crises for patients, families, and friends needing spiritual consolation.
On-call coverage for emergency situations.
Plan and carry out on-going activities that promote individual professional growth.
