Media Maintain excellent contacts with the media and constantly seek out new opportunities to grow network Proactively engage with media contacts across trade, business and consumer-facing publications developing media strategy, providing background information and pitching product and trend stories Help define media strategy around specific campaigns and initiatives to deliver the best possible results Have a finger on the pulse of the PR industry and media landscape and be able to identify strategic PR & event opportunities Monitor brand landscape for potential issues and work closely with public affairs team, as needed Draft press materials including press releases, media pitches, fact sheets, messaging documents and executive talking points Help oversee agency resources, ensuring they are briefed in a timely manner and campaigns deliver against business goals Ensure seasonal campaigns tap into the media agenda effectively to maximize impact Work closely with digital communications (at DCP and the Studio, Channel, etc.) and Disney Digital Network (DDN) to ensure consistent messaging and engaging content is delivered PR Events & Campaign Delivery Oversee the execution of campaigns to support key franchises utilizing the team and agencies, encouraging creative and innovative approaches Manage strategic PR activities such as press events, trade shows, media tours, blogger programs, new product launches and events from start to finish Provide strategic PR counsel to internal franchise licensing clients and marketing teams, as well as senior leadership Present campaign plans to key stakeholders to ensure all activity is maximized across the business Pre-empt potential problem areas and flag concerns to line managers with appropriate solutions Supervise the creation of assets and help to localize global assets when needed Maintain and manage effective campaign budgets Team Management Manage PR coordinator, providing clear direction and guidance Mentor and coach junior team members to encourage their ongoing professional development and help to prioritize tasks and activities Ensure quality control of press releases and all media materials Work with the Senior Manager and Director Communications to ensure work is effectively delegated across the team and oversee workloads and priorities on an ongoing basis Drive evaluation process on key campaigns and ensure learnings are shared with the team Manage outside PR agency/consultants, providing detailed project guidelines, staying in constant communication, and helping execute and deliver upon pre-determined goals Relationship Management Build relationships with the franchise teams, and proactively share plans and results to maximize impact Lead meetings with franchise teams, as well as lead or participate in meetings, presentations and brainstorming sessions to cultivate creative ideas and PR opportunities Manage ongoing communications with licensee and retail PR teams and review/route all press releases and materials for approval Develop relationships with and ensure the appropriate flow of information between different channels in the business (including content partners, marketing and retail) Minimum five to seven years of Communications or Public Relations experience with a Fortune 500 company or public relations agency, preferably with retail or consumer products experience A team player with the ability to embrace a fast-moving, action-oriented environment with a “can do” attitude and a smile Ability to solve problems with creativity and innovation Ability to serve as a Brand Ambassador and embody the Disney culture and values in all aspects of his/her work Ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with team members and other internal stakeholders Capability to approach work with a high degree of professionalism and commitment Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills Capability to build strong working relationships with a variety of different working partners internally and externally, including others who may have diverse communication and work styles Flexibility, resourcefulness and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and growing environment Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or marketing or equivalent work experience Bachelor’s or Advanced degree with an emphasis in public relations
Disney Consumer Products (DCP) is the division of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products (DPECP) that brings stories and characters to life through innovative and engaging physical products and digital experiences across more than 100 categories, from toys and t-shirts, to apps, books and console games. The business is home to world-class teams of app and game developers, licensing and retail experts, a leading retail business (Disney store), artists and storytellers, and technologists who inspire imaginations around the world. Develop and deliver strategic public relations (PR) and social media campaigns for consumer products tied to the following core Franchises: Disney Princess, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Pixar Animation Studios. Be the key point of contact for Communications on allocated franchises, providing strategic council to franchise groups and ensure PR is represented in all relevant forums. Work with Senior Manager to develop plans in line with business goals and take the lead on delivery of strategic planning and execution, working with global counterparts as necessary. Help develop plans and communications materials for programs and initiatives, including press releases, fact sheets, key messages, executive briefing documents and more. Work closely with all key stakeholders to ensure effective two-way flow of information and sharing of resources.
