Job Description

The Director of Network Engineering & Operations is responsible for ensuring the success of their team in creating, securing, and operating Skechers' corporate and retail networks worldwide. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader and experienced team builder with a proven ability to build and coach technical groups. They will provide oversight and accountability, mentorship and growth opportunities, and focus on creating high performing teams to meet the current and future needs of Skechers. This position will be counted on to help guide the direction of Skechers IT by developing long term technology roadmaps and will require a strong technical background in enterprise network and firewall design, implementation, and management. The role also requires experience managing parallel projects, creating KPIs, and developing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure value and success in all stages of engineering—from design to delivery to operation. An in-depth technical aptitude in all areas network and telecommunications is required to be successful in this role.

Overall Responsibilities

Oversees all network engineering and telecommunications group activities
Leads strategic planning, influencing, and prioritization of initiatives
Develop, maintains, and socializes the Network Engineering and Operations roadmap
Defines and evangelizes processes, policies, and standards
Proactively seeks continuous improvement opportunities in process and performance
Build high-performing engineering teams through the development of individual team members and by recruiting, hiring, managing, and mentoring engineers
Supports the professional goals and growth opportunities for the engineering staff
Ensures successful delivery of projects on time and budget
Build and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders to establish network improvement plans and ensure teams are aligned to the needs of the business
Enhance escalation procedures and workflows for the timely resolution of all issues within areas of responsibility
Direct the research of technology solutions in support of new initiatives
Ensure availability of all critical systems and develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans and procedures
Manage operational budget for telecom and network expenses
Ensure that network and telecom is operating within infosec guidelines
Member of Architectural Review Board (ARB) and Change Control Review Board (CCRB)
Set, manage, and report key performance indicators and metrics that are aligned with business objectives
Use metrics to optimize the network and ensure availability and stability

Additional Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day network and telecommunication vendor relationships and hold vendors accountable to their deliverables
Resolve vendor issues and escalates as needed
Ensure comprehensive monitoring is in place and reliable
Conducts design sessions with engineering staff

Qualifications

15+ years of IT experience
10+ years of Network experience at senior engineering level
8+ years in a leadership role with increasing responsibility, previous Director level experience desired
Strong Verbal and written communication skills, comfortable with a highly visible role
Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams
Strong vendor and project management skills
Able to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
ITIL/ITSM experience/certifications
Experience with modern network and cloud technology
Desired certifications CCIE, PCNSE or equivalent
