The Director of Communications works collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and implement impactful communication strategies primarily focused on Vistra’s local and state government programs. The Director of Communications is primarily responsible for strategy, communications counsel, public affairs, public information, community outreach and event coordination support for our local and state government clients. This position has business development responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Leads, plans and manages the development and implementation of strategic communications initiatives and campaigns for corporate and government clients.
Collaborates with clients to determine and implement appropriate communications and public relations strategies or tools to meet client needs.
Responsible for state and local government business development through relationship building, lead generation, proposal development and account growth activities. Assists with developing and implementing multi-year department and company growth strategies.
Liaisons with community leaders, industry influencers, community groups and governmental agencies.
Manages client relationships.
Writes and edits internal and external communications, including collateral, website content, public information materials, media materials and proposals.
Serves as a communications team leader to support client services and team member professional development.
Manages and develops project teams, schedules, budgets and metrics.
Represents Vistra and/or clients by participating in community meetings and events.
Some travel required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public involvement, public information/community outreach, public relations and/or media relations.
Must have experience working on projects for city, county or state agencies.
Strong written and oral presentation and communications skills.
Excellent planning, execution and marketing skills.
Ability to lead projects and teams that successfully achieve milestones.
Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with the client at various levels.
Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
