PSYCHIATRIC MEDICAL DIRECTORSHIP OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE AT MARLBOROUGH HOSPITAL/UMASS MEMORIAL HEALTH CARE
Marlborough Hospital, in conjunction with The Department of Psychiatry at UMass Memorial Health Care, is actively seeking a full time Medical Director for its Psychiatric Services Behavioral Health Program.
The Medical Director will assume clinical, administrative and managerial responsibility for a 22-bed, adult inpatient psychiatric unit. The unit is staffed by other half-time Psychiatrists, as well as a dedicated multi-disciplinary team comprised of nurses, social workers and other health care providers. A cadre of additional psychiatrists provides some overnight and weekend coverage as well. The Director will provide leadership and staff support regarding general patient care, especially in relation to medication and medical issues. The Director will also maintain a caseload of up to 9 to 10 inpatients while engaging in psychiatric assessments, daily treatment team meetings, discharge planning and indicated family meetings/communications. The Director will coordinate Consultation and Liaison Services throughout the facility. Additionally, the Director will be expected to serve on various hospital committees and to present cases for review at Medical Staff Quality Assurance meetings. The Director will also be expected to initiate and maintain ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives
The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, sound clinical abilities, well- developed administrative/managerial skills and a high level of familiarity with quality assurance measures and regulatory compliance including MA DMH and The Joint Commission. The candidate should be hard-working, dedicated to high quality patient care, and available to mentor and assist others working on the unit in providing the same.
The chosen candidate will receive a competitive compensation/benefits package. An academic appointment at UMass, commensurate with education and experience, is also available. The candidate will have the opportunity to mentor third-year UMass Medical Students during their psychiatry rotations at the hospital. Additionally, he/she will be supported in pursuing academic interests within the Department of Psychiatry at UMass.
Marlborough Hospital is a 79-bed acute care community hospital offering a broad array of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical, and ancillary services including oncology, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and inpatient and outpatient mental health care.
