Responsibilities : Work directly with the crew foreman. The laborer is responsible for performing various activities with limited supervision and direction including but not limited to, shooting grades, formwork, layout, maintenance & protection of traffic, pipe, stone, asphalt installation.
Always adhere to safety regulations and company safety policies.
Help foreman to identify hazards associated with daily activities.
Be directly involved in safety meetings (project safety kickoff meeting, weekly tool box talks and Daily Huddles).
Watch out for other team members as well as him/herself at all times.
Ensure that all proper PPE is being worn at appropriate times.
Accountable for his or her actions (positive or negative)
Perform daily activities within client specifications.
Inform foreman of any issues or problems which he/she may encounter.
Assist foreman with any development or cross training within the crew.
Involved in ensuring quality work is being performed.
Have the knowledge and skill set to perform quality operations.
Have a good knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved.
Assist foreman with determining type of tools & equipment needed
Have proper certifications if needed on specific projects (OSHA, Flagger Certification, competent person …).
Ability to take direction from supervisor and manually complete the task with minimal supervision.
Ability to understand when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (recognize there is a problem or may be a problem).
Knowledge to perform routine maintenance on minor equipment.
Ability to communicate information with others on the crew.
Positive skill set & willingness to take on additional responsibilities & assisting the foreman.
Proficient & familiar with total operational objectives of the task at hand.
Work as a team member & produce the work in a timely & efficient manner.
Willingness to work as integral part of the crew.
Positive attitude and ability to work with others.
Maintain close communication with foreman & other crew members.
Willingness to assist foreman in teaching crew members and sharing knowledge.
Working in a positive manner in order to achieve tasks throughout the shift.
Ability to communicate issues and assist in solving them
No minimum education required
Valid driver’s license.
Willingness to become certified if needed.
OSHA 10 Hr. training a plus but not required at time of hire (if hired company will train).
Flagger Certification a plus but not required at time of hire (if hired company will train)
Ability to recognize safety issues.
Good communication skills.
Willingness to work as a team and share knowledge.
Ability to deal with clients & inspection staff in a professional manner.
Ability to follow directions.
Willingness to learn.
Problem solving skills.
