Puppet is seeking a senior engineering manager to be a key part of the Puppet team delivering our products. You’ll be leading a diverse set of engineers to help keep our technology state of the art through our Open Source projects and commercial offerings. You’ll coordinate with a variety of teams and groups within Puppet such as Release, Product Management, User Experience, and Technical Infrastructure to help ensure that the engineering team can ship product quickly and with confidence. Our products form the backbone upon which our customers build their infrastructure and deploy their critical applications, and you’ll be helping make sure our products continue to delight users in all the ways typical enterprise software doesn’t!

You have a history of building high performing teams, value engagement over assignment and know the importance of team retrospectives
You have experience working with teams distributed across local and international time zones
You have familiarity with open source development models and tooling
Track record of shipping high-quality software using agile or kanban principles
Can sense looming process or personnel problems early enough so we can react appropriately
Familiarity with project management and issue tracking tools; helps ensure that we’re always using the best tools for the job
Demonstrated results using continuous improvement processes with engineering teams
Passionate about community engagement
BSCS or equivalent or relevant industry experience
Responsible for 5-12 Software Developers
Manage one to two cross-disciplinary agile development team(s)
Proven track record of driving customer success while balancing multiple and competing commitments
Working with Product Management to ensure clear short term and long term deliverables and priorities for your development team
Facilitating translation of complex functional and technical requirements into a consumable and prioritized backlog
Mentoring your direct reports, providing career guidance, performance coaching and corrections when needed
Communicating cross team dependencies
Removing impediments as needed
