Full Job Description
We are seeking a Field Director to anchor a successful electoral cycle by designing, implementing, and managing political strategy and field activity for priority 2020 WFP races.
This job will be based remotely in compliance with social distancing guidelines and then based in New York State, with regular travel to coordinate races statewide whenever social distancing guidelines are eased. This position is on contract through June 30th, with the potential to transition into a permanent position upon completion.
The Field Director is responsible for executing New York Working Families 2020 statewide political field program which includes: partnering with campaigns to develop and implement winning campaign plans; training volunteers and electoral staff; coaching and supporting campaign staff; creating reports and communicating progress; identifying opportunities for intervention or deeper support; and resolving issues and addressing crises.
The Field Director will
Build and maintain excellent and impactful relationships with our candidates and their key staff developing and implementing plans in partnership with them that help them win and build the party by
Developing, implementing, and directing field plan for priority candidates
Providing technical assistance, strategic consultation, and guidance to endorsed candidates’ campaign staff
Coordinating deeply with campaigns by monitoring nightly reports, supporting field strategy and directing targeted WFP engagement including political endorsements, earned media strategy, and affiliate/ally voter contact coordination
Direct and support Party voter contact efforts in priority races by
Developing, implementing and managing systems and plans (data, tracking, communications)
Overseeing execution of paid and volunteer voter contact activity and volunteer recruitment activity
Developing metrics and measures of success for grassroots voter contact and providing weekly and campaign ending reports for State Director and Officers
Designing and overseeing direct mail plans and vote by mail program
Create a budget with State Director’s approval and ensure all projects run on or under budget;
Recruit and manage field organizers, as needed
In addition to the following qualifications, the ideal candidate has demonstrated a commitment to the mission of the Working Families Party and issues of economic, racial, immigrant, and community justice.
Promotes cultures of respect, inclusion, and justice within the campaign structure.
Minimum of five (5) years of political/campaign work experience; experience with political parties, PACs, etc., a plus.
Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Experience with election rules and regulations highly desirable.
Knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Proficiency in VAN/Votivate, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs; relational voter tools; texting tools and phone banking.
Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers.
Campaign, organizing, and project management experience.
