The part-time Library Assistant position is primarily responsible for providing informational support to all patrons, performing routine circulation tasks, staffing public service desks, supervising student workers and assisting with special projects.

Re-shelves physical items and shelf reads collection for proper placement of materials. Shifts collection as directed and helps with de-accessioning projects

Description of Job Duties
Helps students with minor issues regarding the use of computers, scanners, photocopiers and printers. Restocks paper and toner in printers.

Description of Job Duties
Aids library staff with special projects such as RFID tagging, scanning documents for digital archives, collection inventory, etc. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Familiar with library databases and catalogs and have working knowledge of mainstream computer software, such as Microsoft Office. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot photocopiers and printers. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of library databases and catalogs. Able to troubleshoot minor problems with photocopiers, printers and scanners. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
High School Diploma or its equivalent

Required Work Experience
Experience working in a public service/ customer service capacity.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a public services unit of an academic library, two years of supervisory experience, proficient in the use of library catalogs and library circulation systems.

Due to job requirements, the Library Assistant must able to lift at least 20lbs and push book trucks weighing at least 100lbs.
