Position Summary:
The Marketing Director will have accountability for product lifecycle management of the Lab business which is the lab research products and includes leading all aspects of Marketing including Strategy, Product Management and leading the direction for the execution of the tactical marketing plans.
The incumbent is responsible for defining and executing effective marketing programs and initiatives to maintain and support the growth of the Pall Lab portfolio. Individual product managers with specific product family responsibility will report directly the Marketing Director, and he/she will also develop strong associate engagement and open communication with direct staff and leadership. This position is a key member of the Pall Lab, Food and Beverage global leadership team. This requires leverage and daily interaction with global sales, R&D, product marketing teams, operations and service leaders to meet growth objectives associated with his/her portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibility for the technical health of their assigned portfolio and the development and engagement of product managers assigned to their portfolio. The portfolio include the lab filtration portfolios focused on cellular. Molecular, analytical microbiological and environmental markets as well as the lab water business. The individual products are mostly small value consumables but the total business is in excess of $100M. The role includes managing all existing products pricing and quality/OTD, continuously improving position & profitability of current products, and Rationalization of Product Line/Pricing to drive portfolio profitability.
Optimizing the go to market and channel choice is a key element of the marketing for this business
Perform on-going win/loss analysis to better understand the features that are required for improved sales success. Based on market-driven feedback from customers and prospects, the Marketing Director will write clear product requirements and product development plans. Partner with R&D managers to define the contents and delivery of a product release.
Create and maintain the business plan for the markets served by their portfolio. In this role, s/he will articulate the company’s distinctive competence and the product’s unique advantage. In support of the business case, the Director will perform qualitative and quantitative research with existing customers and potential prospects. In addition, the Director will perform sales, trend, and profitability analysis. As the key business manager on the product, the Director will interface with industry thought leaders and strategic partners. The Director will work with decision makers in marketing communications and sales management to ensure that the product is correctly communicated to the market.
Conduct in-depth market, industry and competitive analysis and product positioning; develop pricing and packaging strategies; help develop sales tools and training; develop and manage customer care programs; develop innovative marketing programs and show event campaigns; develop content for product and company collateral; identify and analyze market and implement marketing strategies and core promotional support programs; support market research programs for the creation and evaluation of marketing strategies; conduct intelligence gathering to assess competition and alternative solutions; work with Marketing Communications to assure web site content development
Identify new business opportunities including new offerings to optimize and enhance the portfolio
Develop and play a role in delivering presentations for all levels of management as well as for other internal and external audiences
Provide timely and accurate feedback and communications to appropriate managers on key issues

Skills and Knowledge:
Strong VOC processing skills and ability to persuade managers and teams to act
Strong people leader capable of setting department priorities and allocating resources to align with business objectives
Demonstrated success in product launches and start to finish execution of marketing strategies
Good experience in marketing in a mixed channel model is desired
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required; experience working in a matrix environment and managing multiple priorities and projects with dynamic timelines to execution
Focused and results oriented with a change management mindset
Experience working in a highly technical organization, requiring a comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles
Ability to apply knowledge of key business drivers and factors that maximize performance
Strong business and quantitative analytics background
Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources in or outside the department
Seasoned experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel

BS degree in Life Sciences (Biology or Chemistry) or related discipline
10+ years’ experience in related field

Additional Requirements:
A self-starter who is proactive, dynamic, and making things “happen”.
Up to 50% travel including domestic and international travel to customers, meetings, and technical conferences/exhibits.
