The position establishes professional development opportunities or internships for UKSP scholars.

Job Title: Relationship Manager- Student Professional Development Internship
Location: Washington, DC

The Relationship Manager shall dedicate the majority his/her time to establishing professional development opportunities/internships for UNCF Koch Scholars Program (UKSP) scholars. He/She will provide active management of the day-to-day activities related to successfully achieving the goals of the program and maintaining positive client services relationships with the students, internship host organizations, the donor, and UNCF staff. Management of the UKSP scholar professional development grants will also be an essential duty.

Responsibilities and Duties

Support the recruiting of new intern host organizations by establishing internship and professional development opportunities that promote the UKSP entrepreneurial mindset.
Recruit UKSP scholars, in addition to qualified students to apply to the internships/professional development positions with support from the Outreach department within Scholarships and Programs.
Oversee the internship/scholarship application and selection process and reporting
Oversee the intern matching process with host organizations
Conduct scholar engagement including managing scholar support services, mid-summer internship check-in, monitoring participation in placement services and responding to student inquiries by phone, letter or e-mail.
Manage the scholar professional development grant process.
Manage the stipend/scholarship disbursement process.
Be actively engaged in annual Student Leadership Conference and Closing Conference
Manage the dissemination of essential correspondences to scholars and partners, including, but not limited to award letters and travel and conference FAQ
Assist the Director in drafting program performance reports for both UNCF leadership and program donor
Handle the processing of all payment invoices for assigned programs and ensure that payment amounts can be covered with available resources.
Monitor the financial activity of the program, assuring accuracy in stipend/scholarship awarding and all other aspects of the program budget, and coordinating all financial reconciliations and budget reporting with appropriate UNCF staff in the Scholarships and Programs Division, as well as Accounting.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
Requires at least 3 years of experience in program administration and management.
Experience working in post-secondary education with undergraduate and/or graduate academic programs; scholarship/internship programs management; and/or other non-profit setting supporting student development and strategic partnerships is strongly preferred. Experience or knowledge of K-12 education and education reform a plus.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to recognize inconsistencies in data patterns and resolve outliers. Skills in using software applications such as Microsoft Excel for data analysis and budgeting a plus.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Requires a high degree of interpersonal relational skill-building in a fast-paced environment. Must enjoying providing support and coaching to college students in improving their professional development. Must be a team player who can collaborate and work effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels of the organization. Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; takes responsibility for work activities; improves processes, products and services; and solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external).
Must be a self-started who take initiative to move work forward. Strong organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and use of social media platforms; ability to effectively use technology to track and manage program implementation and outcomes; willingness to embrace ambiguity and work within established guidelines to resolve unique challenges.
