Job Summary:
A rehabilitation technician works under the supervision of a licensed rehabilitation therapist. It is the technician’s job to help the therapist(s) provide care to patients in more effective and efficient ways. To assist in achieving this goal, the rehabilitation technician will complete a variety of administrative, clerical, infection prevention and patient care tasks. The technician will provide physical assistance for safe patient handling during therapy sessions. An employee in this role may be asked to provide patient transportation to a gym / treatment area, help to maintain equipment and facilities. A rehabilitation technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in age appropriate and culturally sensitive care.

- Prepares the treatment area/gym and/or patient’s room for treatment
- Follows therapist’s direction for preparation of patient for treatment
- Follows therapist’s direction for treatment precautions, and considers patient comfort
- Provides lift, handling and positioning assist during direct patient care
- Adheres to good body mechanics
- Demonstrates the ability to make appropriate adjustments in fast paced, continually changing environments and situations.
- Follows a consistent routine for daily cleaning of equipment by using proper cleaning supplies, and follows proper techniques
- Demonstrates excellence in communication in a multi disciplinary environment
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
- Properly stores therapy equipment after each use, and ensures that all equipment is returned to the therapy department daily
- Routinely monitors temperature of equipment/modalities (such as cryocuff, ice packs, and moist heat) where appropriate to ensure that equipment is continually maintained and operational
- Accurately performs clerical duties according to established procedures to ensure a steady workflow and avoid delays in care
- Maintains laundry and equipment appropriately for each area, as needed

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or GED required.
