This position is in the Westfield Fire Department – an organization with a long history of excellence and innovation. The WFD, often on the leading edge of industry best practices and programs, is looking for a data analyst who can leverage accurate, reliable information to help the leadership team make data-driven decisions.

The Fire Services Data Analyst performs analytical and technical duties in support of operations and services of the Fire Department. This role manages multiple records systems and provides reporting solutions and data metrics analysis to inform decision-makers and improve department performance. The Analyst plays a key role in distributing credible information on department activities in a variety of formats to different audiences (department command team, department employees, elected officials, and general public).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs specific and comprehensive analysis of operational performance to support department's Documents and presents conclusions in visually appealing ways using integrated technology solutions (i.e. GIS)
  • Synthesize data from various systems (Records Management Systems, permitting software, City’s finance & payroll system) into helpful reports that support strategic planning initiatives and data-driven decisions
  • Develops dashboards that to provide meaningful metrics related to performance to a variety of audiences
  • Contributes to the departments continuous improvement programs
  • Maintains data integrity in department systems and corrects inaccuracies. Recommends improvements to improve departments data
  • Develops and delivers training for those entering data into department systems
  • Assists with administration of Provides end-user support and serves as technical lead on projects
  • Provides department data to support citywide performance reporting
  • Supports intelligence gathering and analysis in support of department's emergency management and homeland security activities
  • Assists with ensuring procedures for appropriate electronic records management are in accordance with established laws and regulations for records retention
  • Coordinate and/or perform testing of system modifications and enhancements in collaboration with ITS personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

Experience: Three to five years of professional experience in the areas of performance measurement, data analysis and report writing (ex. Crystal, SQL). A combination of these areas is preferred.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, statistics or a related field required.

K*nowledgeof: *

SQL-based relational databases, knowledge management procedures, statistical analysis tools, business intelligence and data visualization software. Microsoft Access and Excel are also highly desirable.

Previous use of Firehouse software (or other fire service records management system) is preferred.

Note:

Previous knowledge of/exposure to the fire service, GIS (ESRI products), Emergency Services Operations (ESO) products, Target Solutions, and fire reporting systems (RMS) is preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 /hour
