The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking a dedicated professional for a position in the Foster Care and Adoption unit with a demonstrated interest in working with children and their families, as well as a desire to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
The Foster Care Specialist provides services to children in foster care and their families in an effort to reunify them.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Writing thorough service plans to be filed with the court
Providing case management services to children and families
Searching for relative placements
Testifying in court
Maintaining thorough case records in a State database
Collaborating with community partners and service providers
Engaging youth and families in regular planning meetings
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or related field, and minimum three years of related experience.
Must possess excellent oral and written skills, good organizational skills and the ability to engage youth and families from a strengths-based perspective.
Valid Driver's License.
Position is subject to on-call duties and may be required to work some evenings and weekends. May require some brief travel out of the area.
Direct experience in a Child Welfare organization

The successful candidate must undergo criminal history, DMV and Child Protective Services background checks.
