Description:
Assembles rigging to safely lift and move equipment or material on construction project: Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook. Gives directions to CRANE OPERATOR engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, or radio while guiding crane operators as objects are being moved and set into place. The Rigger sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Visually inspect rigging to ensure safety and reliability by checking tag for current inspection date

Dismantle, account for, and properly store rigging equipment after job

Make sure that safety requirements are met at all times

Maintain clean company equipment surfaces and component parts. i.e crane, pickup, van, or heavy haul

Performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment

Must also be able to give and take instructions both verbal and written, solve problems, and work well with others

Assists with inspections and configuring cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, and blocks according to weight and size of the load to be moved

Align, level, and anchor machiner

Attach loads to rigging support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools

Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, booms, using bolts and clamps

Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use

Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear

Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials, such as heavy equipment

Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches according to load weights and sizes

Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability

Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under and/or around obstacles

Understand and comply with company, customer, and health/safety policies, and any other regulations that are required

Requirements:
Education A high school education or equivalent is required.
Experience Prior experience in the construction industry is desirable, but not required. Rigging experience is desired but not required.
