Shift Differential- Rotating Shifts
General Overview:
The listed physical performance expectations must be met at hire on an going basis by all technicians employed at St. Bernard Soap Plant. Technicians are expected to qualify on and perform the tasks and use the skills required at the entry level of the work system on a going basis.
Basic Minimum Requirements:

The ability to operate basic processes/systems and equipment for which their team is responsible.

Material handling, material supply to lines, other task-oriented jobs as defined by the business.

Interchangeable job assignments in task based on technical areas.

Have the ability to Understand and complete quality checks and testing.

Ability to work overtime, and rotating Shifts.

Operational Skills:

Physical Requirements:
-
Requires sufficient physical ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb stairs; to frequently bend, squat, crouch, kneel, twist, and make other movements in the performance of daily activities; grasping, handling/fingering, and using hand tools; to reach above shoulders and outward, and lift, carry, push and/or pull moderate amounts of weight.

Work is performed in an internal and external plant environment; confined space entry required; exposure to noise, dust, and odors; all types of weather and temperature conditions; frequently at heights.

Performs all duties in a safe manner, utilizing current safety practices, personal protective equipment, and reporting procedures. Reviews all pertinent safety material before conducting new assignments.

Uses verbal and/or written information to produce a quality product. Reviews production schedules to help coordinate accurate production runs. Receives shift instructions from the Team Leader and reviews the state and needs of the line at the start of their shift.

Uses material handling equipment as required and as necessary.

Checks, controls, operates, adjusts, replenishes, cleans, and clears jams for any equipment on the packaging line, such as the scale, plodder, cutter, press, cartonnier, wrapper, bander, case packer, case sealer, palletizer, and conveyor systems.

The Operating Technician and other personnel on the line work as a team to solve any operation/production problems. When problems occur, the Operating Techs are required to check, control, operate, adjust, replenish, clean and clear jams for any equipment on the packaging line such as the scale, plodder, cutter, press, cartonnier, wrapper, bander, case packer, case sealer, palletizer, and conveyor systems, and clean or perform other operational duties anywhere on the line.

Constantly monitors product flow and inspects for quality defects and rejects product unsuitable for sale.

Signals other Operating Techs, Maintenance Techs, and/or other resources for assistance, information, etc. of material problems, of machine trouble, or when adjustments are required.

Provides Team Leader with production counts. Records all downtime and reasons.

Cleans around and under operating equipment using necessary tools and appropriately disposes of debris.

Packs, seals, and hand palletize finished cases as required.
-
Unwraps bar scrap, repack and re-enters good product into the lines.
-
Starts-up, operates, and shut down processes in accordance with Team Leader or operational instructions, JSA’s etc.

Monitors gauges, controls etc. for primary and auxiliary equipment to troubleshoot, communicate and correct problems to maximize production.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. No task or duty is exclusive to a classification or skillset. An employee working in this classification is expected to perform various duties and tasks that traditionally may not have been assigned under a narrower job classification.
