Kitchen Services Director
POSITION OBJECTIVE
First Baptist Lafayette is seeking a Kitchen Services Director to lead the meal preparation needs of the Church and oversee all aspects of the ministry. The individual in this role would be involved in the regular life of the church as any other member would be, along with the responsibilities that come with this role. The Kitchen Services Director will be responsible for weekly communication with ministry leaders, lay leaders, and function as a project manager for on-going meals and kitchen related services. The Kitchen Services Director would report to the Executive Pastor.
The Kitchen Services Director is expected to come in and lead confidently, interface with senior church leadership, and creatively lead and execute church meal projects. Meal Projects will include daily FBCS lunch meals, weekly Wednesday Night Fellowship Meals, monthly Fellowship Meals, and special events with prepared meals or catered meals. In addition, there is a potential to provide meal services for ministries at remote locations.
POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate with First Baptist Christian School to provide a lunch menu and meals for each school day in which students are in class.
· Collaborate with senior Church leadership to provide menus and meals for Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal, Monthly Ministry Fellowship Meals, Ministry specific meals and Church-wide Fellowship meals.
· Collaborate with various Ministries to provide off-site menus and meal preparation. Some off-site meals may require travel which will be provided by the Church.
· Lead a team of volunteers to prepare and serve the meals.
· Develop and manage the budget for kitchen related expenses, including but not limited to the purchase of food supplies, paper good supplies, maintenance of kitchen services equipment and repairs.
· Maintain up to date information for equipment and inventories of all supplies.
· Collaborate with Church leadership and ministries to plan and budget for upcoming events and activities, to support the mission of the Church to reach Acadiana for Christ.
· Internalize the culture and priorities of the church.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
· 3+ years of professional kitchen services experience as a Lead Cook or Head Chef.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is a plus.
· Non-profit or ministry experience is a plus.
· Proven ability to be a leader of people and not just a “manager.”
· Experience planning, leading, and executing kitchen services for an organization that feeds an average of 250 people at a single time.
· Confidence to interface and lead conversations with senior-level leaders in the church
· Forward-thinker, always setting the pace.
· Possess a naturally curious mindset, always looking for problems to solve or avoid.
· Be a servant leader in and outside of the church.
· Live a life of Christian faith that makes a positive impact in the community.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead in the planning, conducting, coordinating, and evaluating of Kitchen services for ministry activities, services, and extraordinary events.
- Develop internal and external relationships with food vendors, suppliers, and stay informed about market changes.
- Provide creative mentoring and support all ministries.
- Assist in discovering, enlisting, and training future leaders for kitchen services ministry.
- Coordinate the activities and events in Planning Center Online Calendar for Kitchen services to support the ministry action plan of First Baptist Lafayette.
- Develop and manage Kitchen Services’ budget and help ministries develop related budget resources for respective ministries.
General duties:
- Serve as staff liaison for assigned church committees and ministry teams.
- Keep informed on methods, materials, principles, procedures, promotions, and administration related to communications, social media, print media,
- Cooperate with associational, state, and national programs and leaders. Be involved as time permits, giving priority to the church.
- Maintain openness to innovative ideas and flexibility in adopting new strategies of social media engagement, internal and external communications, ministry promotion,
- Provide support when needed to other departments with “all hands-on deck” ministries (i.e. Vacation Bible School).
- Be present and available to support all church-wide services (Sunday AM/PM and Wednesday PM) and events.
- Work with other ministry staff when responsibilities overlap.
- Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Senior Pastor.
Working Conditions
- The Kitchen Services Director shall be responsible as an employee to the Senior Pastor, through the Executive Pastor, in all matters related to employment. The Kitchen Services Director will coordinate and cooperate with ministerial staff to discharge all duties and responsibilities.
- Observe regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except as required for the conducting of assigned responsibilities or as provided in the general personnel policies.
- Vacation, holidays, and other circumstances related to working conditions are determined by general personnel policies.
- The Executive Pastor must approve participation in conferences, conventions, and outside performances.

- Has demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively with other church staff members.
- Has demonstrated a high level of confidentiality concerning all areas of ministry, especially personal contributions, benevolence, and personal information.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,500.00 - $48,500.00 per year
