Full Job Description
The Hassenfeld Children 's Hospital at New York University (NYU) Langone and the NYU Langone Health system invite qualified individuals to apply for a full-time position within the Division of Pediatric Surgery as an Attending Pediatric Surgeon. Responsibilities of the position include the clinical care of pediatric surgical patients and the education of medical students, surgical and pediatric residents at both the main NYU Langone campus in Manhattan as well as at our affiliate faculty practice in Hackensack, New Jersey as part of the Hackensack Meridian Health network. Academic appointment in the Department of Surgery at the NYU School of Medicine is offered, in addition to credentialing at Hackensack University Medical Center and the Bellevue Hospital Medical Center. Rank, tenure status and compensation will depend on qualifications.
The applicant would join a group of four active pediatric surgeons performing approximately 2000 cases per year, with an extremely high-proportion of all ACGME-defined pediatric surgical index cases. The division has a strong educational and research mission, with active involvement in one of the nation 's top general surgery residencies that boasts a high match rate of residents into pediatric surgery fellowships. The Department of Surgery offers flexible opportunities for academic career development, supported by the full breadth of resources offered by the world-renowned NYU undergraduate and graduate institutions, all against the backdrop of a brand new children's hospital in New York City. We are welcoming candidates with ECMO experience and/or interest in surgical oncology.
The Hassenfeld Children's Hospital occupies a portion of the main NYU Langone Health campus in the heart of New York City, and sits within a brand new, state of the art inpatient pavilion with dedicated pediatric operating rooms, a newly renovated pediatric emergency room, ECMO capabilities and full-time surgical and pediatric subspecialties. The Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital resides on the main Hackensack University Medical Center campus in northern New Jersey, eight miles west of Manhattan, and similarly offers dedicated pediatric operating rooms and a full breadth of subspecialty support. The Bellevue Hospital sits adjacent to the NYU Langone Health campus as the flagship institution and tertiary referral center of the NYC public hospital system, and is an active channel through which the Division offers high-quality pediatric surgical care to underserved populations. Hassenfeld Children 's Hospital is a national leader in patient quality, safety, and high reliability, and is currently in the process of becoming certified as a Verified Children's Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons. The Hackensack Meridian Health network is the largest care provider in New Jersey, and has recently partnered with Seton Hall University to establish a new medical school in New Jersey. The NYU Langone Health network is among the dominant regional healthcare systems in the New York City area, with network affiliates in Brooklyn and Long Island. As the only academic pediatric surgical practice for these two expansive, academic health networks entered in the metro NYC region, as well as for the nation 's oldest public hospital, this position offers applicants a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage in a productive, academic career trajectory.
Must have completed an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Surgery.
