In addition to its hospitals, Duke Health has an extensive, geographically dispersed network of outpatient facilities that include primary care offices, urgent care centers, multi-specialty clinics and outpatient surgery centers.
This position will interface with a variety of referring practices in Wake County to strengthen and increase our Ambulatory Radiology platform. This role is well suited for a candidate with sales or marketing background, coupled with experience in the healthcare field.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
The Radiology Physician Liaison is primarily responsible for developing and implementing educational and marketing plans to maintain and grow referrals from providers and/or physician practices in the local market to Duke University Health System (DUHS).
Executes initiatives related to increasing loyalty to and preference for DUHS among internal and external provider referral sources.
Serve as representative to community providers in assigned geographical regions in support of Radiology programs.
Consult with DUMC faculty and staff to obtain information on teaching and research activities to distribute to referring providers.
Represent Radiology to local and regional providers and promote a positive relationship regarding medical and research activities and programs.
Develops and implements specific outreach, relationship building, and educational plans to meet goals, in collaboration with ambulatory radiology department and marketing.
Document findings; provide market intelligence from the referral community.
Works collaboratively with other system functions that interact with physician offices, including hospital medical affairs, patient access office, Duke Med Link, Powershare, etc.
Identifies referral sources that would benefit from Med Link, Powershare, or other Duke software solutions that would create a more efficient partnership.
Identifies tactics to promote provider interaction and engagement including new provider orientation, site visits, staff meetings, social events, grand rounds, referral dinners, CMEs, and other communication methods in accordance with applicable policies and regulations
Leverage internal Radiology tools (e.g. Utilization Data, Patient Satisfaction Surveys, Referral Trends, etc.) to effectively strategize on areas of marketed focus.
Requires 60-70% travel to regional markets within the primary service area.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Work requires a background generally equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in sciences, engineering, a clinical field, or a business related field.
Work requires four years related business experience in healthcare business, management, healthcare legal affairs, institutional administration and/or related administrative fields

Skills necessary to coordinate the administration of contracting services to monitor and enforce institutional guidelines concerning clinical contracts.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and execution of effective contract negotiation strategies.
Demonstrated knowledge of commercial contract terms and conditions with particular emphasis on the protection of intellectual property, indemnification, confidentiality and minimizing liabilities and risks.
