Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Preclinical Research, this position is responsible for the routine environmental maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, in all office space, non-animal care, and animal care areas. In addition, this position will be involved in procedures including small animal handling, husbandry, custodial maintenance, and other related duties for the START Preclinical Group.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Reports all issues to appropriate personnel.
Responsible for cleaning and custodial maintenance of office space and non-animal care areas, including but not limited to: lobby, offices, conference room, break room, restrooms, and laboratories.
Responsible for cleaning and custodial maintenance of animal care areas, including but not limited to: animal rooms, non-animal rooms, and hallways, may assist with basic research procedures..
Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of vivarium and equipment, including but not limited to: caging, feed grates, and water bottles.
Responsible for vivarium, animal care, and non-animal care area sanitation procedures.
Responsible for the removal and disposal of non-biohazard waste from the facility.
Responsible for the organization and inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
Responsible for daily maintenance sign-off and reporting facility damages in need of repair to supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: operation and maintenance of autoclave, centrifuge, balance, incubator, locators, liquid nitrogen tank, carbon dioxide tank, and assistance in laboratory activities, as needed.
Experience in cleaning in a medical and/or research facility.
Ability to adhere to safety and cleaning standards in an environment with research animals.
Work in a team-oriented environment.
