Upscale catering and food service management company is seeking a Director of Purchasing, who will oversee the procurement of food and other associated culinary items as well as non-food items. Candidates will work directly with chefs, operations managers, and outside vendors to coordinate food & beverage sourcing, manage inventory levels, and lead efforts to minimize the cost of products, supplies, and services. This role will supervise and develop an existing team, develop sourcing plans and budgets, and streamline cost and quality assurance processes. This growing company currently operates locations on Long Island, where it is based as well as Manhattan and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 10 years of recent experience leading a Supply Chain/Purchasing department within the foodservice industry. Multi- unit in several states experience preferred such as hotels, foodservice and la carte restaurants Annual purchasing spend of several million dollars. A background in institutional and contract food purchasing will be highly valued and beer/wine/liquor purchasing is a plus. Strong knowledge of vendor sourcing, inventory administration, purchasing and receiving systems. strong negotiation skills, knowledge of forecasting techniques, detail-oriented, with strong analytic skills and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
