Experienced professional gardener needed for work with established fine garden maintenance company in Austin. We are looking for hard-working plant nerds who get excited about different species in the same genus. Applicants with only large landscape installation or lawn technician experience will not be considered. We do not use heavy equipment or gas-powered tools. Our focus is providing high-quality, detailed, long-term garden care. We tend mainly ornamental landscapes with some herbs, fruits, and vegetables and occasionally perform small installations when needed. Responsible adults who want to work need only apply. Job Duties include, but not limited to:
- Weeding, pruning, planting/transplanting, soil health, insect/disease diagnosis and treatment, etc.
- Pruning, shearing, raking, sweeping
- Mulching and composting
- Driving to multiple sites per day to perform assigned tasks in various garden settings
- Quickly learn the special requirements of each garden/client
- Thoroughly cleaning up of work spaces
- Responsible for tool maintenance and communicating supply needs with Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 2+ years professional gardening experience
- Work well both independently and in a small group
- Have knowledge of common Central Texas plants and weeds
- Take direction and corrective feedback well
- Must have your own reliable vehicle to drive to each garden; travel time and mileage reimbursed
- Be able to arrive at work on time
- Be able to lift 50 lbs
- Work outside in the elements year-round
You will need to purchase your own hand pruners and weeding tool (hori-hori). The company will provide additional tools and supplies as needed. The job is physically demanding and requires a commitment to learn. This is an outdoor job and you will be working in the elements year-round.
Hours per week:
- 32 hours per week, Monday-Thursday. Some Fridays available
