Seeking Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Small Law firm located in South Denver has an immediate opening for a full-time Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team. Our firm practices both civil litigation and transactional law, with a focus on cannabis and hemp law. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a background in cannabis licensing and/or cannabis and hemp compliance laws within the State of Colorado.

This position involves both administrative and paralegal tasks. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who knows how to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and possesses strong customer service skills, a high level of attention to detail, exceptional oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to multi-task.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Paralegal/Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for general legal support tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Transcribe and draft letters
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery requests, and motions
  • Assist attorneys in general law practice including filing and serving documents, file maintenance, meeting and travel arrangements, and scheduling
  • Coordinate with attorneys on workflow and future case and project time and labor requirements.
  • Maintain paper and paperless files, including general file maintenance, scanning documents, working with templates, and organizing files for efficient future use
  • Communicating with clients, counsel, staff, and court personnel regarding file matters
  • Other duties as required by attorneys and office manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • MUST HAVE 2+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal in Colorado
  • Bachelors from an accredited 4-year college
  • Knowledge of Colorado procedural rules and filing procedures
  • Competency with MS Office applications (especially WORD and EXCEL), Adobe, law firm billing software, and Windows Explorer
  • Transcribing and typing skills
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills
  • A proactive and positive attitude, and a desire to always learn and improve
