Summary: Responsible for moving trailers to and from various warehouse locations to accommodate the needs of all areas of the distribution center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Move trailers on distribution grounds to meet the needs of the grocery warehouse, frozen warehouse, salvage dock, garage, etc.
- Ensure that all wheels are chocked when parking a trailer.
- When necessary, unload salvage trailers so that they may be utilized in other areas.
- Move loaded trailers that are dropped by outside drivers to the appropriate door to be unloaded.
- Maintain knowledge of trailer status and be aware of all yard activities.
- Document trailer and door assignments on door sheet.
- Follow safety guidelines and encourage a safe work environment for all associates.
- Follow approved attendance and tardiness policy.
- Wash tractors and trailers as directed by management.
- Follow through with the requests and recommendations of the Transportation Manager.
- Adapt to various situations and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Support company policies and procedures.
- Comply with dress code guidelines.
- Perform other functions as required by the Transportation Manager.
- Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the operation of tractors and trailers required.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of VLM time clock and MDS On-Board Computer.
Certificates and Licenses: Must be certifiable in Powered Industrial Equipment operation. Valid state issued drivers license/CDL.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
