SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position)
This position is responsible for the oversight and duties of the tax function including, but not limited to, coordinating and preparing information needed by Tax Firm for preparation of the annual IRS tax filings for the whole Health System (including not-for-profit and taxable entities). Preparing annual franchise tax/business license and not-for-profit reports, calculating/posting estimated tax calculations and calculation of deferred tax assets/liability, submitting sales and use tax reports, sales tax revenue submission, monitoring compliance of government regulated tax exempt bonds, submitting unclaimed property to various States, assisting with Property Taxation, researching various tax-related issues as assigned, and preparing other government regulatory forms/requests. Althought tax is specialized emphasis, this position is also responsible for other areas of GAAP accounting/financial reporting as assigned. Also, responsible for assisting with the completion of various external audits and for special projects designated by Controller.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience
Bachelor Degree in Accounting (or equivelant) required. Master degree and CPA preferred, but not mandatory. Generally requires 2 year of public accounting with tax emphasis or 3 years of non-public experience in accounting/tax; however, relevance of experience and education/certification are taking into consideration. Ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team is required. Advanced knowledge of Excel functions is required.
