Job Description
We are seeking an OR Nurse to join our team full time. New graduates are welcome to apply, as we are committed to providing training and mentorship.
Qualifications:
1. Licensed in NY as a registered professional nurse (RN)
2. Preferred CNOR from AORN; evidence of continuing education.
3. Current BLS and ACLS required
4. Recent Operating Room experience required.
5. Language skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively both written and orally.
6. Computer and keyboard proficiency.
7. Recent Graduates are welcomed and will be trained.
Working Conditions:

4. May have exposure to patients with communicable diseases.
5. May have exposure to hazardous equipment and / or agents.
6. Physical demands require employee to stand for extended periods of time, lifting, moving heavy equipment and patients, manual dexterity and other physical activities for patient care.
Responsibilities:
· Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others.
· Knowledge of principles of asepsis, infection control and universal precautions. Reduces chances of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
· Knowledge in the use of equipment and instrumentation specific to the OR, as well as cleaning, of the same.
· Knowledge of surgical procedures and specific nursing care for a wide variety of surgical specialties.
· Monitors and assesses the physical status of the patient through personal observation and interaction.
· Assesses and responds to the individual, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient and significant others.
· Acts as patient advocate in the coordination of patient care.
· Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain cost without compromising
delivery of care.
· Utilizes professional nursing judgment, takes action to implement the nursing care
plan and resolve the problems identified for the individual patient.
· Reports and documents information accurately and in a timely manner.
· Seeks guidance, direction and assistance where needed. Follows center policy and
· procedure at all times.
· Communicates a positive and caring attitude toward patient, peers, staff and all other
contacts.
· Ensures that the Code carts are fully equipped, defibrillators are in operational readiness and that daily checks are completed.
· Changes gas cylinders as necessary to maintain medical gas system integrity.
· Ensures communication of need for replacement tanks or system problems. Monitors gas outlets for shutoff at end of each day.
· Promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption to the working environment.
· Prepares nursing and operative documentation for each patient.
· Check all suction outlets and monitors to insure they are all functioning properly.
Summary
As an OR Nurse, you will utilize your core skills in catheterization, IV insertion, and patient care to provide exceptional care to patients in the operating room. Your premium skills in critical care experience and cardiac catheterization will be invaluable in handling complex cases and ensuring patient safety. With relevant skills in airway management and specimen collection, you will contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of surgical care. Your expertise in EMR and EHR systems, along with your RN license and ACLS certification, will enable you to excel in patient assessment and observation.
