Founded in 2001, Oceana is the world’s largest nonprofit organization focused solely on restoring the resilience and abundance of the ocean. Oceana’s Science & Strategy team is looking for an intern to support initiatives to increase government transparency and accountability, builds our knowledge base on international fisheries issues, and helps to manage communications with outside collaborators. She/he needs research experience in political or social science, experience in information management and have a passion for the oceans. She/he will work with the Senior Advisor and Chief Scientist to support the development of a global initiative to reform Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing and curtail harmful distant water fishing practices. This position also supports the Science and Strategy team in project coordination and responding to research requests.
