Job Title: Product Manager I
The position is ideally suited to a cell biologist, biochemist or immunologist with excellent presentation and writing skills who has an interest in developing a strong understanding of life science marketing and the immune therapy research market. The candidate will attend immune therapy-related conferences; interact with customers; and help devise, run, and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns targeted to immune therapy researchers. The Product Manager I will work closely with an Associate Director of Marketing.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage product line through the entire product life cycle.
Contribute to strategic marketing plan and implement tactical programs for successful product launches; develop and implement comprehensive product launch plans. Propose annual business and marketing plans for managed product lines, responsible for implementing tactical marketing plans and achieving annual sales plan.
Analyze market opportunities and customer needs to define opportunities. Create product specifications that provide direction to R&D to help formulate new product ideas. Collaborate with R&D to ensure that products being developed are targeted to identified opportunities.
Ensure that products managed may be found by customers who are searching for products or applications and that web content is informative and aids customers in making purchase decisions. Conduct outbound marketing activities that inform potential customers of how the products(s) can aid and improve their research.
Develop spec sheets, competitive matrices, sales support materials, and customer, sales, and distributor training materials. Collaborate with Marketing Communications to launch, promote products. Provide direction to sales team on product sales strategies.
Conduct annual product line reviews as necessary that summarizes market conditions, sales performance, SWOT and competitor activity. Actively work with marketing management to define possible strategies and recommend specific actions and metrics. Conduct post 6 month launch reviews for key products.
Work with Operations to ensure consistent product availability and quality.
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and distributors, visit key customers attend trade shows and other customer events.

Evaluate success metrics, analysis and tracking of measurements and goals.

Works on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Normally receives some instruction on routine work, initial discussion and regular review on new assignments. Actively coached on strategy formation and implementation.
Education / Experience:
PhD in in immunology/cell biology/biochemistry is strongly preferred; BA/BS degree required.
Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of career growth in a product marketing role or equivalent.
Experience in the pharma/biotech industry would be an advantage.
Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills are required.
