View is in search of a Senior Reliability Engineer to drive the discovery, qualification, and deployment of new materials and process methods. View is constantly evaluating our product for areas of improvement, and your main task will be to define and execute the experiments that allow for us to move forward and develop what’s next. A successful candidate will define what approaches we investigate, develop effective relationships with potential suppliers, design and execute tests to prove out any changes, effectively communicate results to peers and upper management, and ensure proper transfer of methods to manufacturing. Any product changes made will either directly affect product reliability, improve manufacturability, or customer experience, and thus directly impact the success of View as we move forward.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Selection of new materials and/or process methods to meet View product requirements
Design and development of reliability test techniques, methods, and procedures
Drive durability testing and part characterization
Interaction and coordination with material suppliers to ensure component compatibility, quality, and performance
Documentation and communication of results
Deployment of changes to the production process
Travel (<15% of time) to field sites and/or the View manufacturing facility
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S, M.S., or Ph.D. in physical sciences or engineering
Detail orientated, with strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
Familiarity with SPC, DOE, ANOVA and other statistical tools
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Experience in glass coating, thin film batteries, solar, semiconductor or similar industries
Experience with accelerated reliability and durability testing
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Certification as a reliability engineer
Knowledge of Sputtering / Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process
Knowledge of thin film characterization techniques (TEM, SEM, XPS, XRD etc.)
Working knowledge of the coding languages, such as Matlab, C/C++, or VBA
Experience with electrochemical techniques
