- We’re seeking a Tax Manager with 4+ years tax experience performing a high volume of small to medium-sized business tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065).
Responsibilities
- You will be the firm's primary tax expert that the owner and team will look to for tax planning and compliance advice
- You will partner with the owner and team to complete 95%+ tax returns on time to avoid extensions
- You will be ready, willing and eager to assist the owner and sales team with new client consultations and onboarding activities (ex. review prior returns)
- You will be technically savvy and bring forward opportunities to improve efficiency
- Protecting the firm’s reputation is critical - you must be 100% comfortable highlighting tax related risks to the owner
- As we grow, you will serve as a subject matter expert to our Accounting and Tax Managers
- Ensure all tax compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Review tax work of senior accountants
- Review tax information supplied by client
- Attend off-site client meetings as needed
- Respond to client inquiries
- Recognize, anticipate and resolve tax issues; make recommendations
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and update internal policies accordingly
Skills
- Proficiency in using Ultra Tax software
- Excellent communication skills
- Tech savvy
- Comfortable building relationships and working with small business owners
- Experience in financial report interpretation
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team
Qualifications
- Enrolled Agent or CPA required (non-negotiable)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in tax accounting focused on small and medium- sized businesses
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations
- Experience with tax planning strategies for small and medium-sized businesses and their owners
- Excellent communication skills (i.e. must be able to articulate medium/complex tax issues to business owners)
- Willing to travel to client’s sites within the Chicagoland area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
