JOB SUMMARY: The Regional Service Technician position is a local technical representative within the assigned geographical area of Los Angeles, CA that is responsible for building strong professional relationships with customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Maintain infrastructure to support corporate/business unit goals within assigned region.
Coordinate courtesy work activity to meet corporate/business unit goals and objectives.
Able and willing to travel a minimum 85% of the time to perform tasks at customer sites.
Troubleshoot packaging machines and resolve a high percentage of mechanical, electrical, and programming issues unassisted.
Communicate effectively with field service advisors to resolve technical issues.
Maintain a positive, professional relationship with customer personnel.
Document pertinent technical and customer information to facilitate an ongoing business relationship.
Produce extremely accurate, complete and timely customer technical reports that can be submitted to customers with confidence.
Take initiative to learn new components and design principles as they are introduced.
Proactively identifies product/service sales opportunities at customer sites that will enhance customer's packaging processes.
Assist with the training of new technicians.
Train customer personnel in formal (class room) and informal (hands on) settings.
Perform machine audits.
Recommend machine design changes and enhancements.
Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Assist with related tasks and projects.

Must have great customer service skills.
Must possess great documentation skills with the ability to produce extremely accurate, complete and timely customer technical reports that can be submitted to customers with confidence.
Must have advanced mechanical and electrical background in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the packaging manufacturing industry.
Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve machine software issues online with a laptop computer without assistance.
Must be able to read, follow, and document changes to blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical drawings.
Must be proficient in the use of a laptop computer and related software.
Must be able to use a variety of machine and hand tools.
Must be able and willing to travel a minimum 85% of the time.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must have a two year technical degree in packaging machine automation or related technical field such as Fluid Power, Aeronautics Maintenance, or Industrial Maintenance and a minimum of five years demonstrated work experience in the packaging manufacturing industry or related technical field, or a high school diploma and five years of demonstrated work experience in the packaging manufacturing industry or a related technical field.
