Summary

Family Health Care (FHC), a non-profit organization established in 1967, was one of the first community health centers in the U.S. to develop a "one-stop shopping" concept for health care services. We offer family practice, dental, laboratory, x-ray, full-service retail pharmacies, medical social work, health education, and school-based teen health centers in Baldwin, Cadillac, Grant, McBain and White Cloud. Requirements

The Family Health Care internship programs are a critical component of a strategic goal to familiarize students with the mission-driven care provided by Federally Qualified Health Centers and to draw and retain top talent in a community of health professionals that values innovation, excellence, stewardship, and the highest level of scholarship.

The Health Admin Internship presents a valuable opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain experience within the area of performance improvement, auditing, management, human resources, productivity, and reporting in a primary care setting.

Our White Cloud administrative team seeks an intern to assist in the planning, implementation, research and development of our preventative care tracking system, data analysis, process standardization and other related elements.

Projects and responsibilities will be assigned and adjusted based on level of experience and education. This internship is open to graduated students and those of a masters level education and in addition to current undergraduate students looking to pursue a career in healthcare, public health, or healthcare administration.

The intern will work collaboratively with the administration team members and organizational staff to enhance their knowledge and skills and improve the delivery of quality healthcare.

The following are preferred:
Knowledge in the area of Healthcare Administration or other healthcare/research related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail
Word processing and spreadsheet experience with other data analytical program experience
Responsibilities

Complete high-quality work on time and review with supervisor for feedback and improvement
Complete a significant project (and report if required for credit) based on current studies and interests while organizing and maintaining a portfolio of accomplishments and reports. Potential projects include:
Identification and implementation of process improvement for dental medical or behavioral health areas of the organization
Evaluation and improvement of quality and safety within the organization
Accept assignments and agree to deliverables and timelines based on experience level and scope of the project Data analysis and validation of care related information contained in the electronic health record and patient care registry. Observe meetings as possible for exposure to the administrative and collaborative activities that surround the quality improvement process.
The student intern will be expected to participate in normal improvement related duties and responsibilities listed above with the expectation of completing one significant project throughout the course of the internship. This project should be related to the student’s interest and course of study. Additional smaller projects may be included to increase the diversity of the student experience.

This internship is a non-paid, semester-long internship program that provides select, aspiring healthcare leaders with an unparalleled experience with Family Health Care. Applications are accepted on a year-round basis.

Hours Monday – Friday, 24-40 Hours per week
