EMSL Analytical, Inc. is currently seeking a Full Time Microscopist- Microbiology (Microbiologist) for its PIscataway, NJ location.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bioaerosol analysis.
Identification of different fungal spores, bacteria, and fungi.
Responsible for the preparation and analysis of spore trap and direct exam samples
The successful candidate must be familiar with daily activities in the laboratory, including analyzing samples with unknown IDs.
Maintaining the QA/QC Program and Standard Operating Procedures.
Fill in reports and send reports to clients
Other duties may be assigned to meet laboratory needs
May be required to cross train in asbestos analysis to meet business demands
Must have 1 to 3 years experience
Applicant must be able to enumerate, identify and confirm a wide variety of bacteria and fungi
College-level course in Statistics or Quality Assurance is a plus
Experience with air samples, surface samples, food testing, bacteriology, and mycology is desirable
Two years environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus, but not required
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Must have some lab experience and be proficient in common lab procedures
Must be able to work with Phase Contrast and Light Microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinents, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile technique and good lab practices
Good communication skills (will have some client interaction)
Good computers skill both in typing and MS Office

Ability to maintain client confidentiality
Able to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet short deadlines
Must be able to work some weekends as needed
Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business demands
