Director of Assisted Living

The Director of Assisted Living will oversee and ensure quality care and life enrichment for the Assisted Living and Memory Support residents. Newcastle Place is looking for a qualified RN, Administrator, or Social Worker for this position.

Principle Duties

  • Responsible for the development, organization and operation of services offered for the Assisted Living and Memory Support Neighborhood
  • Make resident observations to assess physical and emotional status to determine care needs, monitors implementation of appropriate intervention, make recommendations regarding most appropriate living arrangements.
  • Supervise and if needed provide personal care, including bathing, meals, laundry, activities and transportation of residents.
  • Effectively manage budget for your department.
  • Marketing to increase community awareness of Assisted Living/MC.
  • Supervise medication administration. Supervise and maintain adequate resident records.
  • Supervise and maintain staff records, including but not limited to orientation, continuing education, assessments and evaluations.
  • Review all incident reports and implement safety measures where necessary. Follow up with the appropriate physicians and families. Work with Human Resources on all work related injuries and all work related leaves.
  • Train staff on proper ways to deal with residents exhibiting unpredictable behavior.
  • Ensure compliance with Fed, State and Local regulatory codes.
  • Handle emergency situations as they arise. Be on call as appropriate.
  • Conducts community tours when needed.

Other Duties:

  • Provide or conduct necessary in-services to the staff.
  • Attend all scheduled AL/MC family events at the community.
  • Attend managerial and clinical conferences as assigned.
  • On-call rotation is required.
  • All employees are expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of residents, other employees and our physical plant. This includes the ability to assist with a possible evacuation of residents.
  • All employees are responsible to adhere to all facility policy and procedures as they relate to compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Medicare Compliance. All employees are responsible to ensure that any Protected Health Information and Medicare Compliance Information that he/she comes in contact with is maintained in a confidential manner.
  • Abide by emergency, safety and health regulations. Eliminate or report all hazardous conditions as they occur.
  • Abide by all rules and policies set forth by the company and department.
  • Attends in-service training and education session, as required.
  • Employees are responsible to perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Prior experience and experience in long-term care facility, preferred.
  • RN/LPN licensed in the State of Wisconsin
  • Must have CBRF certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to document care given.
  • Possesses ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff. Must use sound judgment, works well under pressure and possesses strong organizational skills.
  • 2-5 years of Healthcare Management experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift , transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
