We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to build relationships and underwrite, manage and grow an Excess Casualty book.

We are looking for somebody who can build relationships and underwrite, manage and grow an Excess Casualty book. If you are an enthusiastic, ambitious, dedicated and driven individual with quality commercial underwriting experience, we would like to meet you!

The position is available in either the IFG Atlanta or Scottsdale office.


Select, price, classify and determine coverage terms of individual liability risks following established company guidelines and underwriting philosophies.
Meet production and marketing goals while maintaining underwriting integrity and overall profitability.
Exhibit thorough working knowledge of sound underwriting principles, policies, procedures, and controls.
Develop production sources and relationships. Maintain excellent communication with producers and educate them in the IFG product offerings while promoting the IFG brand.
Assist marketing efforts by providing feedback pertinent to the product line with respect to competitors, products, and the overall marketplace.
Work collaboratively with other team members and mentor less experienced underwriters and support staff.
Keep current on issues, trends and emerging liabilities impacting Excess Casualty.
Attends industry conferences as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

College degree and at least fifteen years commercial primary and/or excess casualty work experience with demonstrated involvement in insurance industry education. CPCU designation preferred.


Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
Travel as required for business needs.
