The VMware Cloud Solutions Integration Gateway is looking for a software developer with a diverse set of experiences and skill sets to design and build solutions needed for VMWare Cloud (VMC). What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
We are searching for a talented, dynamic, hands-on development engineer to join us in building and improving VMC. You will design, develop and support extensible services/platforms that provide cloud capabilities to all VMC SaaS and SDDC platforms/services. You will work closely with a team of passionate people with a modern mindset who want to change the status quo.
As part of the Cloud Solutions Integration Gateway Team:
Most of your time will be designing, developing, maintaining, and operating scalable services using cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, REST APIs, message queues, distributed tracing, monitoring, and more. All of our services are written in Java.
You will write automated tests in Java and python to validate and secure critical customer functionalities.
You will be responsible for delivering your code changes to production and monitoring/maintaining our CI/CD pipelines.
You will take on-call responsibilities where you will triage, troubleshoot, and mitigate production issues.
You'll be given responsibility for high level epics, and be asked to help define requirements and tangible deliverables. You will be expected to break down the work into individual work items that can be assigned to the team and lead in estimating and scoping.
You can expect to collaborate with partner teams to identify dependencies and align on delivering cross-team initiatives.
Desired Skills:
Proficient in programming languages such as Java and python.
Systematic problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
Understanding of distributed computing concepts.
Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment, including quickly getting up to speed with new technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field, OR equivalent industry experience.
2+ year experience building and operating highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Understanding of Unix/Linux systems, file systems, and client-server protocols.
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience engineering, operating, troubleshooting, administrating and scalingSaaS services.
- 1+ year experience as DevOps Software Development.
Experience with container orchestrators (Kubernetes, Docker Native Orchestration, Docker Swarm).
Experience with streaming or queuing systems such as Kafka, ActiveMq, etc.
Experience in VMware products, specifically Cloud related solutions such as: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN or contending cloud solutions and products.

For CA and WA residents, the salary range for this position is:
$117,000 - $230,000
The actual offer will be based on the role, location and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position. Additional benefits for this position can be found at https://benefits.vmware.com/
