Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting, developing and refining business requirements for information technology solutions. The candidate shall serve as the conduit between the customer and the software development team, establishes the technical vision, and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs of the IT solution. Clavis is looking for a professional who is well versed and experienced with the following:

  • Is knowledgeable of industry standard business and process management methods and approaches such as waterfall, agile, Lean, Six Sigma
  • Understands and is experienced in using methods to capture, elicit, categorize and prioritize requirements, use cases, user stories to document business needs
  • Is experienced in developing cross-functional business process modeling diagrams and is aware of process mapping tools
  • Comprehends business architecture perspectives and how they relate to the organization’s IT products
  • Evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs of the IT solution
  • Is experienced in soliciting and deriving business and technical requirements, constraints and dependencies from business oriented discussion


  • Experienced in facilitating, leading working sessions between business stakeholders, potential users of the information system
  • Exercises independent judgment as well as analytical skills to solve complex managerial and technical problems related to IT transformation projects
  • Demonstrates strong presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Is flexible and works well in a cross-functional team


  • Is an American Citizen
  • Has a BS or MS level degree
  • Has a minimum 3 years’ experience in a Business Analyst role
  • Lean Six Sigma certified analyst - Green Belt level consultant
  • Has strong oral and writing skills. The successful candidate must be able to draft capabilities narrative, business rules, and articulate procedure changes
  • Preferably has prior federal government experience
  • Familiarity with MS-Office automation products, including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Project.
